The first stage

  • Removing bottlenecks in 1976 with the aim of increasing the capacity of the complex to produce 80,000 tons per year instead of 60,000 tons per year

  • Development of the lubricating oil complex
  • Development of a phenol extraction unit using a solvent
  • Candle removal unit using solvents, so that the unit operates in a sequential system

This complex includes the following units:

  • First: Unit (13) Propane extraction unit: 125,000 tons / year

Feeding this unit from the residual product of the vacuum distillation unit to produce the remaining oil needed to obtain very heavy oils and produce asphalt. The remaining oil is treated with propane, which has the property of dissolving asphalt materials, then the propane is recovered and asphalt production

  • Second: Unit (14): Extraction unit 250,000 tons / year N.M.P

The purpose of this unit is to improve the viscosity coefficient by getting rid of aromatic substances using the NMP solvent, where the NMP is mixed with the oil and then the oil is separated from the NMP mixture. With heavy aromatic materials, the (NMP) is fully recovered and used again and the production of Raffinates (oil + paraffin wax)

  • Third: Unit (16) Wax Separation Unit: 125000 tons/year

(de-waxing) In this unit, the wax is separated from the oil using a mixture of toluene and methyl ethyl ketone.
(de-oiling) and also used to separate oil from wax

  • Fourth: Unit (17) wax treatment unit: 7000 tons / year

In it, the wax is processed by the child to completely purify it from the oil residue, and then the plates are poured into the casting machine

  • Fifth: Unit (300) unit for treating oil with hydrogen 80,000 tons/year

(de-waxing) in which the resulting oil is treated with
Using hydrogen to get rid of substances that affect the color of the oil and substances that cause corrosion, such as sulfur and nitrogen oxides, using a catalyst under pressure and temperature in the form of hydrogen sulfide gas, ammonia and water vapor

  • Sixth: Unit (600) Special oils production unit: 20,000 tons / year

In which certain types of oils are treated with hydrogen using a catalyst under conditions of high pressure and temperature to produce the following special oils:

  • Tree spray oil

  • turbines oil
  • Seventh: Unit (700) Medical oil production unit: 7000 tons/year

In which the white mineral oil is treated with hydrogen in the presence of a platinum catalyst and under conditions of pressure and temperature, at which the unsaturated ring compounds are converted into saturated compounds, and the local market is covered by medical oil for pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies and all rice mills
