Crude distillation and petroleum products processing complex

Crude distillation and petroleum products processing complex

Distillation complex

The refining capacity of this complex is about four million tons annually, and the date of its start-up operation was in 1972, and it was expanded in 1986, 1992. The distillation products contribute to covering the country’s needs of butane, gasoline, kerosene, diesel, diesel and asphalt of various types, in addition to providing the necessary naphtha for the complex to improve naphtha and produce aromatics. As well as the kerosene needed for the production of alkyl benzene, in addition to the wax distillates needed for the production complex of lubricating oils.

This complex includes the following units

This complex includes the following units

Crude oil mainly consists of a mixture of hydrocarbons of different composition with a varying percentage from one crude to another. The distillation process depends on the different boiling range of each group of hydrocarbons that make up the required product.

Second: Gas recovery units, the purpose of which is to obtain

  • Propane gas used as a solvent in the lubricant complex
  • Butane gas used as fuel
  • light gasoline production

Third: Vacuum distillation unit

Obtaining products with a very high boiling range requires heating the crude oil to a very high temperature, which affects the basic components of the crude and cracking occurs. Therefore, a vacuum is made in the main distillation tower. As a result of the decrease in pressure, the boiling point decreases and the separation process is facilitated by distillation.
